Wyoming Trails Program offers kids' ATV safety course
Contact
Chris McNeilMarch 27, 2008
Due to the increased popularity of ATVs and a spike in the number of youth injuries and deaths in recent years on the vehicles, the Wyoming Trails Program is traveling to schools and events throughout the state to provide a rider safety message.
Through the use of a Safety and Education Interactive Training Trailer and ATV Safety Simulator, the State Trails Program provides a variety of safety and ethics information to students ages six years and older.
Certified instructors present a 45-60 minute fun-filled mini course providing students with safety techniques and trail ethics tips. Handouts are available with information from the State Youth Program, Tread Lightly Ethics, National Off Highway Conservation Council Adventure Trail, 4H Safety Tips and the ATV Safety Institute Course Guide.
More than 3000 students benefited from the program last year. The program has received excellent reviews from educators and administrators alike.
The program can be held in any parking lot or large shop or garage.
For more information or to schedule the program, please call Wyoming State Trails Safety and Education Coordinator Chris McNeill at 307-335-8747, 307-349-6365.
